Alright, according to an article (which I can't really link, since it makes my browser crash) in the internet portion of the Süddeutsche (a newspaper), the Christian church (or, rather, both the protestant and the catholic churches here) are protesting against shops being open on Sundays here in Germany. Their argument? "Lack of respect towards the church, tradition, and Christian values."
W-T-F.
Newsflash: I don't care if you feel like Sundays should be this super-special day where nobody is supposed to be working, if I need groceries on Sundays, and people are okay with working on Sundays (I would, given that I don't have time during weekdays), I want to have open supermarkets on Sundays. I'm pretty sure that there's such a thing as separation of church and state here (and if not, I'm very disappointed), so take your ideologies, keep them to yourselves, and don't boss those who don't believe in the same invisible man as you do around.
And this is really my only gripe with religion: Getting into other people's business.
About the title: With this, the churches are really shooting themselves in the knee (harming themselves with their own actions).
That's it, I just needed to rant.
